Susana Salgado is â€‹the MATRIX project coordinator at Instituto de Ciências Socias da Universidade de Lisboa (ICS-UL). Currently, she is a Principal Investigator with habilitation. Previously, she occupied positions at Oxford University, in the United Kingdom, and at the NOVA University, in Lisbon. Her reserach interests include populism, online hate speech, polarization, disinformation, political communication, comparative media studies, democratization, elections, the Internet, and politics.​

Afonso Biscaia is a PhD candidate in Comparative Politcs at ICS-UL. His reserach interest is focused on digital political communication and right-wing populism. His published works include "Look at this! Radical right-wing populist information sharing practices in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil" (2024), and "Assessing the prevalence and predictors of incivility in online news comments across six countries" (2024).

Andrei Prudnikov is a PhD candidate in Comparative Politics at ICS-UL. Among his research interests is political discourse in its different representations and different aspects of local and regional identity construction. Previously, he held academic positions at universities in Kazakhstan and Russia, where his research focused on Russian nationalist discourse, particularly the Eurasian ideology in Russia and Kazakhstan. His academic interests also extend to various aspects of political communication, including the impacts of its digitalization.
